The mobile fingerprint reader devices appeared in the last 5 to 7 years, which are simple hand-held devices transferring the recorded fingerprint image to a computer-based identification system (AFIS). Search of the enrolled fingerprint takes place there in a database selected according to the application (e.g. databases of refugees, criminalistics or sought-after/lost persons).
